Mixing Station App
Mixing Station is a third-party app that allows wireless control of a wide range of digital mixing consoles, including the Allen & Heath QU/SQ series, Behringer X32/M32, Soundcraft, and many others.
It is used in the Neuadd for remote control of the QU-32 desk, typically for mixing remotely during rehearsals and to enable automation.

Mixing Station is available for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and Linux.
It connects to the mixer via the local network and offers:
- Customisable control layouts
- Multi-layer fader banks
- Scene recall and editing
- Metering and channel overview

Setting Up Layers
Layers in Mixing Station are groups of channels shown together on one screen of faders.
To create or edit layers follow this guide
Setting Up Layouts
Layouts define the arrangement and visibility of controls, meters, and buttons on screen.
They let you create a workflow tailored to your show or task.

Saving and Loading MSScenes
MSScenes are Mixing Station’s version of desk scenes — they store fader positions, mutes, and certain settings inside the app, not the mixer.
IDCAs (Independent DCA Groups)
Mixing Station supports IDCA groups, which work like DCA groups but are handled entirely within the app. This allows grouping channels that overlap with console DCAs or creating temporary control groups.
For more on IDCAs go to the docs.
Possible use cases include
- Muting all band mics at once.
- Controlling all radio mics separately from other inputs.
- Muting/Unmuting a particular group of actors at once
Notes and Best Practices
- Use static IPs for tablets or devices running Mixing Station to ensure consistent API access.
- Avoid running multiple instances of Mixing Station connected to the same desk with write access unless you understand the implications. There is a maximum of 8 connections to the QU32 at any one time.
- Regularly export your configuration for backup.
